Dow Performance Monomers, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Co., recently announced it will shut down of 20% of acrylate capacity at its Deer Park Operations in Deer Park, Texas. Additional actions will reportedly include optimizing turnaround and structural costs and exploring co-producer supply agreements.

"We are taking these actions to address the impact of the global acrylates trough and to more strongly align the business’ acrylate production to business priorities: providing downstream business needs for growth and supplying those customers that value long-term, reliable acrylate supply,” said Todd Prey, global business director, methacrylates and acrylates.
