Aerospace designers and manufacturers are forming partnerships with a variety of component fabricators along with universities and research groups to develop new designs geared around incorporating lightweight composite materials into new designs.  The new designs are focusing on improving fuel efficiency as well as addressing increasingly high material cost. One of the areas being explored is the possibility of enhancing the carbon fiber-resin system by adding nanoparticles. The addition of the nanomaterials could be a potential solution to enhancing composite components in addressing issues being examined by the industry.
