Technology is moving so quickly that today's innovations will soon become obsolete, and we cannot entirely predict what the future might hold.

I recently received a link to YouTube video that's been floating around cyberspace with the title of  “Did You Know?” It is fascinating look at the pace of change, including business and employment trends.

One of the most shocking statements in the video is this: “The top 10 in-demand jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004.” Technology is moving so quickly that today's innovations will soon become obsolete, and we cannot entirely predict what the future might hold. This is why it's crucial to keep up with the industry and its emerging trends.

One way to do this is to attend industry events. The Adhesive and Sealant Council's Spring Convention is happening now, and the PSTC Week of Learning takes place next month. In addition, there are a variety of other conferences, symposia, and trade shows taking place throughout the year. I urge you to  sign up for and attend an event. Talk to your colleagues and competitors. Learn about the current trends in the industry, as well as the "next big thing." Whatever that might be...

What changes will you make?
