EnvironmentalUpdate<br>Testing Shows MDI Emissions Insignificant From Commercial Boards and Polyurethane-Bonded Substrates
The article is based on a four-week-long study that was performed at Huntsman Polyurethanes' laboratory in West Deptford, N.J., which is accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association. The purpose of the research was to determine MDI emissions from both an MDI-based polyurethane adhesive used for bonding aluminum and wood substrates and commercially produced composite boards cured with RUBINATER(1) MDI binder.
After 30 minutes, the first test specimen in each set was placed in a chamber at 21degC (room temperature), ~50% relative humidity (RH) air, for 40 hours. Air was pulled through the chamber at a flow rate of about one L/min.
