ASC Participates in White House Summit on Residential Construction Supply Chain
The summit included a small group of representatives from builders, lumber companies, retailers, realtors, loggers, and labor unions, as well as other companies and organizations.
The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) recently announced that Bill Allmond, ASC president, participated in a White House summit on July 16, 2021, to discuss supply chain disruptions in the homebuilding industry. The summit included a small group of representatives from builders, lumber companies, retailers, realtors, loggers, and labor unions, as well as other companies and organizations.
Leading the summit was Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, who was joined by Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge, National Economic Council Director Brian Deese, and Council of Economic Advisers Chair Cecilia Rouse. The U.S. adhesive manufacturing industry was significantly impacted by the deep freeze along the Texas Gulf Coast in February, which led to severe supply chain disruption, price increases, and product shortages, many of which continue today. These challenges have consequently impacted downstream industries that use adhesives and sealants in their manufacturing process.
