An innovation to reuse hazardous materials has been developed by the 2nd Civil Engineering Squadron Environmental Management System team through its Reuse Program.  The program gives materials an extended life reducing environmental impact preventing household chemicals from going to waste by collecting used materials and finding alternative uses for them. A new version of the program took the initiative to a new level when the team was able to involve hazardous materials in addition to household chemicals.

In order to be considered for reusability, the materials must meet certain criteria. If the material is approved for repurposing, it is listed on the program’s SharePoint informing authorized users, as well as potential users, what is available. The materials can be anything from adhesives to hydraulic fluids.
