Readers last week were most interested in the world record recently set by DELO’s epoxy resins (DELO Sets World Record with Truck Lift Using Adhesive): “DELO recently announced that it has broken the world record for achieving the heaviest lift using adhesive. The company reportedly lifted an 18-ton (17.5 metric tons) truck, surpassing the previous record of 16.3 metric tons. The new record was officially recognized by Guinness World Records.

“For the world-record attempt, an 18-ton truck was lifted by crane to a height of 1 m with 3 g of adhesive. The entire weight hung for 1 hr on a bonded aluminum cylinder with a radius of 3.5 cm, which corresponds to the diameter of a standard soft drink can.

“In addition to about 600 DELO employees, two local politicians attended the record attempt as witnesses. An official adjudicator from Guinness World Records was also present to confirm the record.”
