Surface defects in a coating is one of the most costly issues facing the auto manufacturing industry, or any high end surface coating application, including boats, aircraft and sporting equipment. Surface defects, including craters, particulates and corrosion, can all lead to costly rework. Coatings defects can be minimized through careful planning. Knowing the painting system, maintenance and optimization of process variables can reduce or eliminate rework. This course addresses many of the issues in prevention and minimization of defects. The course covers the defects caused by the coatings process, as well as human issues, including personal care product causes.
