Emerson & Cuming Receives Top Honor from National Starch and Chemical Co.

The 2001 CEO Award for Quality Leadership, the highest honor conferred by National Starch and Chemical Co., was presented to Emerson & Cuming in January. Emerson & Cuming triumphed over 16 other business-unit applicants within National Starch.

Some of Emerson & Cuming's achievements in recent years include QS 9000 certification, cycle-time reductions of key products and consistent increases in customer satisfaction. Emerson & Cuming also increased its performance in the areas of safety, health and environment, surpassing two million hours without a lost-time accident, and reducing hazardous waste by more than 50 percent in the last two years. Furthermore, the company enhanced its competitive product line through major technical advancements in conductive adhesives, underfill and thermal-interface materials.

Emerson & Cuming, a subsidiary of National Starch and Chemical Co., manufactures circuit- and component-assembly materials. The company specializes in custom-formulated, high-performance polymer systems for electronic and engineering applications. Headquartered in Billerica, Mass., the company operates manufacturing sites in Canton, Mass.; Westerlo, Belgium; and Hokkaida, Japan.

National Starch, a member of the ICI Group headquartered in Bridgewater, N.J., is a worldwide manufacturer of adhesives, specialty polymers, electronic and engineering materials, natural polymers, and advanced ingredients.
