The honors, according to University officials, were presented in recognition of Liveris' distinguished career and his ongoing contribution to the University.
According to Professor Jim Litster, head of the University's School of Engineering, "Andrew is possibly the most distinguished engineering alumnus of this University of any era."
Litster noted that Liveris has continued to take a strong interest in the University. "He has assisted us in our student recruitment in engineering programs and is keen to play a significant role in building a strong engineering alumni for this University, particularly with our many alumni working in the U.S.," Litster said.
Liveris' career with Dow began in 1976 in Australia and has spanned manufacturing, sales, marketing, new business development, and management. He has spent the bulk of his career in Asia, where he was general manager of the company's operation in Thailand, and later head of all Asia-Pacific operations.
Liveris now resides in Midland, MI, where he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation.
