DOMINO CELEBRATES 50,000 MACHINES PRODUCED

Domino, a UK-based manufacturer of coding and marking systems, has reached a significant milestone at its award-winning Cambridge factory. The company has been producing its A-Series continuous inkjet printer at the site since 1998, and the 50,000th machine rolled off the production line in March. The milestone machine is destined for Nimax, Domino's distributor in Italy, who already boasts a large installed base of A-Series machines. Although this particular printer is bound for a European destination, A-Series machines have been sold into production sites all around the world and can be found at locations as varied as the Solomon Islands, inside the Arctic Circle, and on-board a fish-processing vessel. Improvements in the production process since the first machine was produced back in 1998 mean that Domino is now producing double the original volume of printers with the same number of people. Most crucially, customers benefit from faster delivery performance, as there has been an 80% reduction in the time required to build an A-Series machine compared with its predecessor. Dave Cope, Group Manufacturing Director, commented, "The key change over the past 6 years has been the constant improvement in production efficiency, which ensures a really smooth flow from order intake through to dispatch." He added, "Continuous improvements in automation and efficiency mean that the A-Series is a cost-effective, high-performing solution for our customers."
