Global Automotive Lightweight Materials Detroit 2016 (GLAM) is returning to drive overall vehicle weight reduction cost effectively. Over 30 technical presentations will investigate opportunities within BIW, chassis, interiors and more, scrutinize the latest advancements in cost competitive composite solutions and benchmark the most effective joining methods for mixed material designs. There will be a renewed focus on advanced materials solutions expanding beyond BIW will enable OEMs to identify material applications, technologies and processes that are offering considerable weight savings in the areas not previously covered. Brand new speakers to the series will deliver fresh success stories from OEMs such as Toyota Motors Japan, Aston Martin, FCA, Ford, GM and more. The successful body-in-white exhibition will return and include more models and a bigger space, allowing the participants to network while physically testing the latest breakthroughs in the automotive lightweighting. There will also be one full day dedicated to driving down the cost of automotive composites will look at improvements across material processing, universal methods for carbon fiber production, effective composites joining and more to ensure that composites are offering more feasible solutions for automotive lightweighting.
