HENKEL: Surface-Mount Adhesive

April 20, 2012

This company has expanded its line of surface-mount adhesive (SMA) with LOCTITE 3621, which has been validated for use with non-contact dispensing (often referred to as jetting) technologies. Most SMAs are needle dispensed which, although adequate for many applications, often leads to limitations in terms of speed, dot shape and size. LOCTITE 3621’s rheology reportedly allows it to be used for non-contact dispensing processes, which can help alleviate some of the drawbacks of traditional needle dispensing. Using the SMA, non-contact dispense speed is reportedly nearly four times faster than needle dispense techniques. The non-contact dispensing SMA can also provide for more uniform dot dimensions and volume repeatability, with no tailing or stringing.
