Bayer to Mark 150th Anniversary

Bayer recently announced it is marking its 150th anniversary this year with celebrations in the U.S. and across the globe. The company’s achievements will reportedly be celebrated through many activities and events for employees, neighbors, customers, partners, and the scientific community.

“We are proud to celebrate such a significant milestone in our company’s history and recognize the important work of our many valued employees,” said Philip Blake, president of Bayer USA. “It also presents an opportunity to share our story with the public we serve as we strive toward our mission, Bayer: Science for a Better Life.”

As part of the celebration, the Bayer Cares Foundation will support 150 current and retired Bayer employee volunteerism projects that will help improve lives in Bayer communities around the world. The foundation will contribute a total of €603,571 (~ $784,642) for the 150 projects, which were selected by a panel of judges. In the U.S, nine Bayer employees and retirees have been selected for a total U.S. donation of nearly $37,000 for local community projects.

The company was scheduled to hold an Employee Celebration Day luncheon for all 110,000 global employees on June 18, serving the same international upscale menu to every employee on the same day. The anniversary menu was created by five global Bayer Celebration chefs.

In addition, Bayer is hosting a major exhibition that will travel to some 30 venues in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia to mark the anniversary. The theme, “Bayer: Science for a Better Life,” reportedly gives visitors a chance to see and experience how Bayer improves the quality of life for people worldwide. It focuses on the topics of health care, agriculture and high-performance materials.
