It sounds somewhat melodramatic, but it’s very true: adhesives are increasingly used in life-saving medical applications. Our staff came across a recent story from CNN entitled Baby's brain aneurysm halted - by superglue, which includes an impactful video and provides an excellent example. Terminology aside, the adhesive in question actually saved a newborn baby’s life by closing an aneurism in her brain.
We also recently covered a story regarding research at Penn State, where scientists have developed a new bio-based adhesive for surgical applications. Read the full story here: Mussels Inspire Innovative New Adhesive for Surgery.
