From April 21-23, the international coatings industry will come together for the European Coatings Congress and Show. Delegates from coatings, adhesives, sealants, printing inks, construction chemicals and raw materials companies will gather to hear some 144 lectures in 24 sessions.

In 2013, the European Coatings Show reported a record number of exhibitors. Some 962 exhibitors from 43 countries showed their new products to 25,844 trade visitors on a record net display area of over 34,600 sq m.

The Show and Congress are being held parallel to each other: the exhibition takes place April 21-23, while the conference will run April 20-21. Exhibitions will be organized into two segments: raw materials and services; and test and measuring technology, laboratory and production technology, as well as associated services.

The Congress

The highlights of the Congress program include an opening keynote speech for the plenary session delivered by Prof. Rolf Mülhaupt, Freiburg Materials Research Centre FMF, University of Freiburg. His paper, “Green Polymer Chemistry,” is expected to provide answers to the question regarding why “organic” is not always “green.” He will explain what sustainable development in terms of economical resources will look like.

Other lecturers will cover themes on coatings formulations, printing inks, adhesives, sealants and construction chemicals. New this year, the Plenary Session will be streamed live on the European Coatings Congress website, allowing individuals to attend the event from remote locations.

Pre-Congress Tutorials

Participants in the exclusive pre-congress tutorials will reportedly be provided with more extensive information on coatings-specific themes. Before the start of the Congress, 10 experts from industry will discuss anti-corrosion coatings and decorative paints, and will share tips on correct design of experiments.
