The ASSEMBLY Show is scheduled to take place October 28-30 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. In addition to the exhibit hall, attendees can listen to industry experts discuss the latest technological advances and manufacturing trends during a keynote presentation, two half-day workshops,Assembly Show Returns to Rosemont: Opportunities for Adhesives and Sealants and a series of Showcase Theater seminars.

Plus, we’ll once again have a top-notch keynote presentation and showcase theater presentations.”

 

Plastics and Design Workshops

Two half-day workshops are scheduled to take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on October 28: Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and Plastics Assembly. A dozen seminars are scheduled for October 29 and 30, including:

•  Kevin Reiland, product manager at Panasonic Assembly Tool Division, will present on advances in cordless tool technology in “New Technology Takes the Reaction Out and Puts the Ergonomics In.”

•  Dave Garner, key customer manager for automation products at Desoutter, will discuss advances in cordless tool technology during “Freedom for the Assembly Worker—Ergonomic and Cordless Power Tool Solutions.”

•  R.J. Ruberti, team leader of linear systems at SCHUNK Inc., will discuss various protection options for linear actuators in “Environmental Protection for Linear Actuators.”

•  Andy Scott, market application engineer at Henkel Corp., will discuss recent performance breakthroughs in instant adhesives during “Latest Advancements in Adhesive Bonding Technologies.”

•  Larry Allingham, vice president of operations at Transformix Engineering Inc., will present “CNC Assembly™: A Unique Combination of Speed and Flexibility,” focusing on a new automated assembly technology that combines the best of continuous motion, indexing motion, power-and-free transfers, and robotics.

•  Victor Caneff, business development manager at Banner Engineering, will explain how manual and semi-automated assembly processes can benefit from visual guidance techniques during “Advances in LED Technology Create Enhanced Visual Management Opportunities in the Assembly Process.”

•  Shari Loushin, lead tech service engineer at 3M Industrial Adhesives & Tapes, will show how adhesives can be used as alternatives to rivets, screws, and welds in assembly operations during “Solving Assembly Challenges with 3M Adhesives and Tapes.”

•  Mark Burzynski, president of The Arthur G. Russell Co., will outline the strengths and weaknesses of the different automatic assembly platforms available today in “Choosing Appropriate Assembly Technology—It’s All About Productivity.”

•  Pat Davison, director of standards development at the Robotic Industries Association, will discuss “New Developments in Robot Safety,” including the ramifications of the new wave of collaborative robots.

•  Andrew Bardsley, global category leader at Ingersoll Rand, will present an overview of intelligent fastening tools during “Cost of Ownership: Are You Paying for Features You Do Not Need?”

•  In “2015 Capital Equipment Spending Outlook,” John Sprovieri, editor-in-chief of ASSEMBLY magazine, will present the results of the magazine’s 19th annual capital equipment spending survey. He’ll talk about what equipment assemblers will be buying next year and how much money they plan to spend.

 

Exhibit Hall

The ASSEMBLY Show exhibit hall offers attendees the opportunity to see new products, meet with vendors/suppliers, and get hands-on with large exhibits and working equipment. Keynote on Bringing Jobs Back to the U.S.

A keynote presentation at 9 a.m. on October 29 will feature Timothy J. Hutzel, president of Tim Hutzel Advisory Board Services, and David Lippert, president of Hamilton Caster & Mfg. Co. Their presentation, “Bringing Jobs Back to the USA: Rebuilding America’s Manufacturing Through Reshoring,” will relate how American companies can survive and prosper while keeping their manufacturing base within the U.S. Hutzel and Lippert will provide a powerful one-two punch to debunk the myth that U.S. manufacturers can’t compete with cheap labor countries.
