Cytec Issues Update On Gulf Coast Plant Operations Following Katrina

Cytec Industries Inc. is in the midst of recovery operations at two manufacturing facilities that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina. The Building Block Chemicals Fortier plant outside of New Orleans is currently shut down, and the Cytec Performance Specialties facility in Mobile, AL, is expected to be operational this weekend. The Louisiana plant was damaged by Hurricane Katrina's high winds but did not experience flooding. The plant was shut down before the storm hit. At this time, Cytec cannot provide an estimate of when full operations will resume, but is working closely with customers in an attempt to fully meet their needs. The Mobile plant has assessed site damage and begun repairs. Electrical power has been fully restored and operating personnel are back on site. There continue to be manufacturing issues caused by raw material availability and transportation difficulties, but the plant is expected to be reopen this weekend.
