Rohm and Haas Opens Adhesives Plant in Brazil

PHILADELPHIA -- Rohm and Haas Co. has announced the successful start-up of its new Brazilian adhesives plant in Jacarei. This newest production facility for the company's global adhesives business was built with an investment of $15 million (U.S.). Using the latest in modern, computer-integrated technologies, the eco-friendly plant concluded its successful inaugural production run in spring 2002.

Focused on the production of adhesives for the Latin American region, the new facility operates with cutting-edge technology gained in the acquisition of Morton International and later fine-tuned by Rohm and Haas. It also includes vertical production facilities for polyester, a raw material used in the manufacture of polyurethane-based adhesives for flexible packaging. The plant also manufactures acrylic emulsions for pressure sensitive adhesives used in labeling applications.
