Scapa Automotive has introduced BondSeal 0442, a high performance automotive butyl sealant ideal for gap filling, sealing out liquids, and eliminating unwanted noises. Designed to offer exceptional expansion of up to 200%, this synthetic, rubber-based sealant strip is applied to automotive body areas prior to the paint cycle. Formulated with blowing agents and curatives, BondSeal 0442 expands within 5 minutes of heat exposure in the paint bake cycle and fully expands after 20 minutes at 180 degrees C. BondSeal 0442 is also available with an optional heat-activated film on one side. Effectively single-sided for easy handling during assembly, this product acts as a double-sided adhesive tape once it is heated, ensuring a strong seal.
