Do you think that nuclear power plants in America are safe?

Do you think that nuclear power plants in America are safe?

Yes: 80%

No: 10%

Unsure: 10%

Comments:

“There needs to be a strong push in the U.S. for building more nuclear plants. This, along with the abundance of oil, coal, and natural gas, would give the U.S. energy independence”

“I feel the operations and controls are very safe here in the U.S. My greatest concern is threat from terrorist or enemy attack.”

“We should be using thorium based reactors.”

“Still lower emissions than either coal or oil fired plants. We could use more of the thorium fueled plants. Coal would be better converted into oil and lubricants.”

“More nuclear means less oil, less oil for fuel means more oil for plastics. More oil for plastics means lower plastics cost.”
