How Twitter is playing a key role in collecting donations to help victims of the disaster.

CNNMoney.com is reporting that, following Tuesday’s catastrophic earthquake in Haiti, Twitter is playing a key role in collecting donations to help victims of the disaster.

Fundraising efforts by the American Red Cross and rapper Wyclef Jean were two of the the top 10 trending topics on Twitter early Wednesday. Both organizations asked Twitter users to text a number to make a donation that would be added to their cell phone bills.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti. If you are interested in helping with relief efforts, text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill.

Or you can go online to organizations like the Red Cross and Mercy Corps to make a contribution to the disaster relief efforts.
