The Dow Chemical Co. recently announced the retirement of Geoffery Merszei, executive vice president of Dow, president of Dow Europe, Middle East and Africa, and chairman of Dow Europe. His retirement will be effective early in 2013. Merszei will relinquish his current leadership responsibilities on Aug. 1 and retain his chairmanship of Dow Europe.

Heinz Haller, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Dow, has been named executive vice president, president of Dow Europe, Middle East and Africa, and chief commercial officer. His new responsibilities will be effective Aug. 1. In this role, he will lead Dow’s geographic strategies in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, as well as continue to be responsible for corporate Marketing and Sales and commercial new business growth activities. In addition, he will continue as a member of Dow’s Executive Leadership Committee, the Business Operations Team and the Strategy Board.

Joe Harlan, president of Performance Materials and executive vice president of Dow, will join the Dow Corning Board of Directors, effective Aug. 1. He will replace Haller.
