Henkel to Partner with Holst Centre on Flexible Electronics

Henkel recently announced it has partnered with Holst Centre in the field of flexible electronics. The two companies have begun jointly defining areas of exploration and focus. Holst is recognized for its work in generic technologies for wireless autonomous sensor technologies and flexible electronics, while Henkel is known for its adhesive products. The two will collaborate to identify and develop solutions that will meet the stringent end-use requirements associated with emerging technologies in flexible electronics, including flexible lighting and photovoltaics. Flexibility of the adhesives in the final product, as well optic clarity and barrier protection, will be among the most critical requirements considered in the design feasibility and prototype development phase.

“We are truly pleased about this collaboration with Holst,” said Graeme Roan, Holst liaison and Business Development manager for Pressure Sensitive business, a segment of Henkel’s Packaging, Consumer Goods and Construction Adhesives business. “Ongoing innovation in our markets is a priority for Henkel, and this external alliance is an ideal forum for intellectual sharing.”

Representatives from Henkel’s electronics business will also play a key role by imparting their expertise with electronically conductive adhesives and edge sealants. “We intend to leverage the wealth of technology and application proficiency that exists across the Henkel organization to advance this program,” Roan said. “The ultimate goal and mark of success for us will be the development of technology that helps our customers differentiate and grow in new markets.”
