The Adhesive and Sealant Council, Inc. has announced its Call for Speakers for the ASC Spring 2007 Convention and Exposition in Savannah, GA, April 15-18, 2007. The abstract submission deadline is Friday, Jan. 5, 2007. Suggested presentation topics for the Business sector include: Regulatory Issues; Global Markets; International Business; Sales and Marketing; and Best Practices - Finance. Suggested presentation topics for the Technical sector include: Sealants - Technology Updates and New Developments; Raw Materials; Additives; Reactives and UV/EB Curables; Academia Research; Equipment: Innovations in Application and Dispensing Systems; Structural Adhesives and Sealants; and Going Green - Issues and New Technologies.

BASF TO EXPAND PSA CAPABILITY AT MONACA FACILITY

BASF, Charlotte, NC, has announced plans to invest $4.9 million in its acrylic emulsion manufacturing facility in Monaca, PA, to increase its capability to produce coater-ready adhesives. "This capital project, planned for completion in second quarter 2007, enables us to provide more products to the pressure-sensitive adhesives industry," said Jim Tanger, business manager, Adhesives and Fiber Bonding for BASF in North America. "It allows us to offer more base products for adhesives and demonstrates in a tangible way our strong commitment to this market."

DEACOM PROMOTES SHAW TO DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Deacom Inc., Wayne, PA, has promoted Susan Shaw to director of Marketing. Shaw joined the company in August of 2005 as marketing coordinator with a background in the process manufacturing industry. She was responsible for developing the company's marketing strategy and coordinating branding and public relations efforts. In her new position, Shaw will lead all marketing initiatives for Deacom, including marketing communications, market development and sales support.
