For the second consecutive year, Business Ethics magazine has named Minerals Technologies Inc. (NYSE:MTX) to its list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens. Minerals Technologies Inc. was number 81 on the list that included such companies as Procter & Gamble, Intel, IBM and Hewlett Packard. "We place a priority on ethical conduct at MTI, and we are very proud that we have been recognized by Business Ethics magazine for the second year in a row," said Paul R. Saueracker, chairman, president and CEO. "It is also gratifying to find ourselves in the company of some of the country's top corporations." The criteria used to determine the corporate citizenship ranking is based upon quantitative measures of corporate service to seven stakeholder groups: stockholders, employees, customers, the community, the environment, overseas stakeholders and women and minorities. The list of potential corporations is drawn from the S&P 500 and Russell 1000 indices. Sandra Waddock and Samuel Graves of the Carroll School of Management at Boston College did statistical analysis for the list. KLD Research and Analytics of Boston, a research firm serving socially responsible investors, provided social ratings.
