The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) has named Julie Ackerman to the position of senior director of Public Relations and Communications.

“Effective communication with our membership, especially in this increasingly competitive global market, is critical,” said Chuck Yuska, president and CEO. “We recognized a need to be more efficient in our outreach and to establish new ideas to reach our audience in ways that are not only keeping up with the trends but setting them as well. Julie brings a new perspective to our ways of communicating and promoting our mission of being the leading global resource for packaging and processing.”

Ackerman has over 12 years of communications, marketing and public relations experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. She most recently served as senior director of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR), an organization that supports and promotes high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship.
