The global COVID-19 pandemic has made it challenging for the industry to come together at traditional trade shows, meetings, and other events. The ongoing crisis and evolving safety guidelines prompted The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) to pivot multiple times throughout the year, ultimately developing a Virtual Convention and EXPO that will be held November 4-6.

Berry Global Group, Inc. recently announced that its Biesheim, France, facility has achieved an International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate (ISCC), which enables the site to sell ISCC Plus-certified nonwovens.

A coalition of 40 industry organizations, including Afera (The European Association for the Self Adhesive Tape Industry), recently wrote a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen calling for decisive action to solve implementation issues within the EU Waste Framework Directive (WFD), specifically the Substances of Concern in Products (SCIP) database.
The project consists of a proposed replacement of the current lignite power plant with a natural gas-fired co-generation power plant to produce 100% of the required steam and electricity demand for the Martinswerk site.

The Fire Retardant Additives (FRA) division of Huber Engineered Materials (HEM), a portfolio business of J.M. Huber Corp., recently announced it is preparing a plan for a sustainability project and substantial investment in a new power plant at its Martinswerk facility in Bergheim, Germany.
The consortium reportedly provides a framework for cooperation and coordination among federal agencies having a stake in developing advanced battery technology and establishing a domestic supply of lithium batteries.
