Some of the myths included are: Silicones are only for glass and metal; Silicones won¿t stand up to water exposure; Silicone sealants tear; and Urethanes are as durable as silicones. Most of these myths are easy to prove false. But for those who believe them, or who just don¿t have time to investigate, they can be very damaging, resulting in new construction and renovation projects that don¿t last, according to the manufacturer.
