SOCMA Adopts Revised Responsible Care® Guiding Principles
WASHINGTON — The Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA) has adopted proactive revisions to its Responsible Care Guiding Principles. The SOCMA Board of Governors established new goals and included directions to the association members to continue their work toward no accidents, injuries or harm to the environment.
A new preamble includes a pledge to report global health, safety and environmental performance to the public. The vote by the board to revise the principles was unanimous on all of the changes.
SOCMA became a Responsible Care partner in 1990, and activated the sixth and final code of the initiative in September 1999. The association encourages members to implement practices-in-place within five years of code activation.
