Simrit Receives USP Class VI Approval For Elastomeric Materials

November 24, 2003
Simrit recently received United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Class VI certification on three materials for pharmaceutical, medical and bio-tech applications. The testing was conducted by North American Science Associates Inc. (NAMSA). The company's Simriz perfluoroelastomers (Simriz 484 and Simriz 486) and Genuine Viton V178 compound passed the stringent toxicity certification requirements. As a result of this USP Class VI certification, the company is authorized to sell products manufactured from these materials to the pharmaceutical, medical and food industries. Simriz 484 perfluoroelastomer is a 75 durometer black material that also meets Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for food processing applications. With a temperature range of -5 to +230 degrees Celsius, Simriz 484 offers wide chemical resistance and excellent heat resistance.
