NORWICH, N.Y. -- knovel Corp. offers the seven-volume Dictionary of Substances and Their Effects (DOSE: second electronic edition, edited by S. Gangolli) on its Web site, www.knovel.com. DOSE contains information on 4,123 chemicals and their impact on the environment. Toxicity, physical properties, and regulatory requirements are presented with complete references at the end of each file.
Chemicals can be searched for by their chemical names as well as synonyms, molecular formulas, CAS Registry and RTECS numbers. The data (text) files can be searched for keywords, and the fields in the live table can be searched for physical properties, registry numbers and synonyms.
knovel will grow the DOSE database by at least 500 compounds per year, in addition to enhancing information in the 4,000+ compounds now in the database.
