The PSTC Tech 31 event closed Friday morning with a final general session. Brian Johnson, senior EHS&R stewardship specialist in the REACH Program Office at 3M Corporate R&D, explained how the REACH regulation affects PSA tapes. REACH, the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals, replaces over 40 regulations and has several different requirements for preparations and articles.

John S. Dick of Alpha Technologies has more than 30 years of experience in the rubber industry. He discussed measurements of the magnitude and nature of natural rubber quality variation using a rheological tester.

Tony F. Rummage, senior research associate at Sonoco Products Co, spoke on “Complete Release CoreTM (CRC) for Medical Tapes.” A new generation of medical tape core allows for 100% complete unwind, allowing for significant savings for tape manufacturers.

Proceedings from the PSTC Tech 31 will be available on the PSTC Web site.
