Experts Restore Main Stairway at Portland High School (8/16/10)

In recent years, the once-elegant main stairway at Portland High has been covered with layers of cement, steel, and rubber tread--its original marble was deemed too slippery after decades of wear and tear. Now the city has begun restoring the stairway to its original appearance, and a sealant with tiny metal bits will be applied to reduce slipperiness.
