EID 9544, a new generation of prepolymers from Huntsman Polyurethanes' Adhesives, Coatings and Elastomers team, provides an improved through cure without the addition of a catalyst. It offers adhesives and coatings formulators - particularly those in the automotive, structural wood laminates and furniture assembly industries - a simplified and faster curing process with enhanced performance benefits. The new generation prepolymers overcome the disadvantage associated with standard prepolymers of a fast cure at the surface and the formation of a urea shell. The improved through cure of EID 9544 promotes the penetration of moisture into the thicker sections of the prepolymer, which is of particular benefit when used on uneven substrates. Stefan Stein, marketing manager, Huntsman Polyurethanes' ACE, says: "Huntsman Polyurethanes' ACE is constantly working with customers to understand specific requirements in key markets. Through such proactive partnerships, the team is able to respond with innovations such as EID 9544."
