CARLSBAD, Calif. — Asymtek is celebrating its 20-year anniversary of providing dispensing and motion-control systems to customers worldwide. Founded in 1983 by Robert Ciardella, Alec Babiarz and Philip Maiorca, Asymtek has become a world leader in automated fluid-dispensing systems. In the mid-1970s, the three founders worked together in research and development of computer peripheral products, including ink-jet printers. They identified what is now called “benchtop automation” and aimed their efforts at the electronic-assembly and semiconductor packaging market. In 1996, Nordson Corp. acquired Asymtek.
