BASF Lifts Force Majeure in North America
The force majeure was the result of two independent events during the week of January 14, which impacted production at the Geismar, La., manufacturing facility.

BASF recently announced has lifted the force majeure on 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and its derivatives in North America. The force majeure was the result of two independent events during the week of January 14, which impacted production at the company’s Geismar, La., manufacturing facility. On January 14, a natural gas fire occurred near the facility and disrupted the site’s natural gas supply, followed by record low temperatures for several consecutive days, along with rain, sleet and snow in the southern Louisiana area. The BDO and derivative products will remain on sales control until inventories fully return to acceptable levels.
