Unimin recently announced its quartz and coatings and polymers activities have been incorporated into the new entity Sibelco North America Inc. The recent merger of Unimin and Fairmount Santrol reportedly resulted into the creation of Covia Holdings Corp., a provider of minerals and materials solutions for the industrial and energy markets. High-purity quartz sands and the sales of materials for coating and polymers, have been integrated into the new entitiy.

Sibelco reportedly sees a very strong future for high purity quartz sands business and will seek to leverage its capabilities in new markets. In coatings and polymers applications, the sales and marketing functions will be handled by the same people as before.
