Every year, we study the leading worldwide manufacturers of adhesives and sealants to compile the ASI Top 20. In considering the rankings, we focus on sales figures (and other details) for finished adhesives and sealants, as well as related products such as tapes and labels.

Wacker recently announced that its K 2022 tradeshow offerings will center on silicones and silicone-based applications that make sustainable solutions in the fields of electromobility, energy generation, medical technology, and plastics processing possible. 

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently published an updated standard—based in large part on research by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)—that includes language specifically for additive manufacturing (also known as 3D printing).

Here you can discover what they are thinking about subjects such as their companies’ strategies for success, supply chain issues and other challenges, and what opportunities they anticipate for the adhesives and sealants industry.

Four business areas comprise Adhesive Technologies: Packaging & Consumer Goods, representing 32% of the segment’s 2021 sales; Craftsmen, Construction & Professional, 31%; Automotive & Metals, 22%; and Electronics & Industrials, 15%. Each segment achieved double-digit organic sales increases for the year.

Bostik, Arkema’s Adhesives segment, achieved almost €2.3 billion (approximately $2.5 billion) in revenue in 2021. An increase of 14.1% over 2020, this represented 24% of Arkema’s total revenue for the year.

Net sales in Berry Global’s Health, Hygiene & Specialties segment grew 22% in the company’s 2021 fiscal year (ended October 2, 2021), to almost $3.2 billion. The segment produces adhesives, sealants, and tapes (among many additional products) for applications in aerospace, automotive, construction, medical, and others. (The company declined to provide specific adhesives/sealants-related sales and other information.)

DELO produces industrial adhesives for automotive, consumer, and electronics applications, as well as dispensing and curing equipment. The company’s total sales for its 2022 fiscal year (ended March 31, 2022) reached €182 million (approximately $194.8 million), a 9% increase over 2020.

Among myriad product offerings, DuPont produces adhesives and related solutions for applications in electric and hybrid vehicles and the automotive aftermarket, along with composite, glass, and rubber-to-substrate bonding. A company contact reports that the company’s 2021 net sales for adhesives, sealants, and related products was $780 million (up from $750 million in 2020).
