Evonik Restructures Innovation Organization Around Bio-Based Solutions, Circular Economy

Evonik is restructuring its innovation organization, which includes a new Innovation Factory. The factory is expected to contribute up to €300 million to the company's projected €1.5 billion in additional revenue from its innovation growth areas by 2032.
Under the new model, about two-thirds of Evonik's researchers will work directly within business lines to develop customer-focused solutions, while cross-business and long-term research projects will remain centrally managed. The Innovation Factory will focus on bio-based solutions, the energy transition, and the circular economy, with a goal of bringing projects to market within five years.
In 2025, Evonik invested approximately €418 million in R&D, with about 82% directed toward business-driven development. The company also reported that 48% of its revenue came from products with above-average sustainability benefits, up three percentage points from 2024.
