Saint-Gobain Expands Presence in Asia-Pacific with Acquisitions

Saint-Gobain has expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific region through two acquisitions that strengthen its construction materials and construction chemicals businesses.
In Japan, Saint-Gobain signed an agreement to acquire AGC's majority stake in AGC Polymer Materials, a supplier of polyurethane waterproofing and flooring systems with approximately €50 million (approx. $58.9 million) in 2025 sales. The acquisition strengthens the company's construction chemicals portfolio, including technologies relevant to adhesives, sealants, and waterproofing applications. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
In Vietnam, the company completed the acquisition of Phu My Innovative Materials (PMIM), a manufacturer of plasterboard products that generated approximately €20 million (approx. $23.6 million) in revenue in 2025. Saint-Gobain reports that the acquisition expands its manufacturing footprint and supports growing demand for lightweight and sustainable building materials. Saint-Gobain currently operates 12 manufacturing facilities in Vietnam and holds leading positions in gypsum products, light steel framing, cement board, and construction chemicals.
According to Saint-Gobain, the acquisitions support its "Lead & Grow" strategy by expanding its presence in high-growth markets across Asia-Pacific. During the first quarter of 2026, the region recorded 9.0% sales growth in local currencies for the company.
