BASF Raises Prices for Neopentyl Glycol and 1,6-Hexanediol

BASF recently announced that it is increasing prices for the polyalcohols neopentyl glycol (Neol®) and 1,6-hexanediol (HDO) in Europe and neopentyl glycol (NEOL® /NPG) in the United States and Canada.
In Europe, the price of neopentyl glycol will increase by €250 per metric ton, while the price of 1,6-hexanediol will increase by €300 per metric ton. The increases are effective immediately or as existing contracts permit.
Additionally, BASF is increasing prices for neopentyl glycol (NEOL/NPG) in the United States and Canada. The increases apply to all grades and packaging and will take effect September 1 or as existing contracts permit.
Neopentyl glycol (NPG) is a high-quality intermediate used, for example, to produce polyester resins for coatings, unsaturated polyester resins, lubricants and plasticizers. 1,6-Hexanediol (HDO) is used to manufacture industrial coatings, including lower-VOC formulations, polyurethanes, adhesives and cosmetics.
According to BASF, the price increases are driven by the global supply-demand situation and rising raw material costs.
