LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany – Manufacturers of self-adhesive products such as adhesive tapes or labels can now test ways to optimize their manufacturing processes and output using BASF’s two new ultra-modern coating pilot plants. These plants boast the world’s fastest-coating line for aqueous pressure-sensitive adhesives (5,000 ft/min) and a UV-curable hot melt adhesive coating line operating at up to 2,300 ft/min.

Both plants are part of BASF’s newly modernized coating center for pressure-sensitive adhesives at its Verbund site. The development and modernization costs of the coating center, which was designed and built in cooperation with Pagendarm BTT GmbH, totaled more than $4.5 million.
