EIT Inc.'s PALM (Production Ambient Light Measurement) Probe radiometer was granted United States Patent 6,566,656 B2 in May. This recently issued patent is in addition to United States Design Patent D 451,413 S issued for the unit on December 4, 2001. The probe allows the user to take measurements in difficult-to-reach areas of UV curing systems. UV system performance can be monitored in all UV applications, but the probe is especially useful in web and flexo applications. A non-conductive ceramic coating is applied to the outside of the Light Guide. The instrument is also isolated from the Light Guide by a non-conductive Delrin block. Both the ceramic coating and Delrin block work to protect the user against shock.
