Presentations by Bayer Polymers, Dow Chemical, INVISTA Specialties Intermediates and Nippon Polyurethane Industry will headline an adhesives-specific technical session at Polyurethanes Conference 2004. The conference, scheduled for October 18-20 in Las Vegas, will highlight technical advances in the industry and introduce new products that maintain adhesive properties in extreme weather conditions. "The adhesives sector, along with coatings and sealants, has been looking for solvent-free alternatives for their formulations," says Dick Mericle, executive director of the Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry (API). "Some of the technologies presented at Polyurethanes Conference 2004, including one for a continuous mechanical dispersion process, offer solvent-free aqueous alternatives that meet industry needs." This year's Polyurethanes Conference includes more than 80 technical papers on a wide variety of topics, including appliance applications; automotive interior trim and structural RIM applications; blowing agents; catalysis; coatings, sealants and adhesives; combustibility issues; construction; elastomers and TPU; environmental, health and safety issues; footwear; furnishings; fundamentals; processing innovations; and recycling.
