Westech Aerosol Corp. has been presented the Sequoia Award for leadership in environmental innovation. This award was established to honor the development of products or implementation of techniques that promote healthy environment (i.e. cleaner air or water, conservation of natural resources, etc.). The winning product, the company's canister adhesive, HSC13, contains low levels of volatile organic compounds and was uniquely formulated to exclude the chemical methylene chloride. The result is an overall reduction of air pollutants, while maintaining strength, ease of use and affordability. Among this year's Sequoia Award judges were representatives from the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the Department of Health Services and the Environmental Protection Agency. Also on the panel were delegates from the Los Angeles County Sanitation District, the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and the Institute for Research and Technical Assistance.
