Dyna-Tech Adhesives Inc., a Grafton, WV-based manufacturer of waterborne, UV and EB adhesives and coatings, has announced the acquisition of the QureTech® Division of K.J. Quinn Inc., Seabrook, NH. “The acquisition of QureTech provides a synergy for our business going forward,” said David P. Allen, president of Dyna-Tech Adhesives. “The merging of our product lines will strengthen our capability to serve our customers and markets.”
ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco have announced that their first big Chinese downstream oil venture has grown to $5 billion, much more than planned. When the venture with top refiner Sinopec Corp. was initially agreed upon in 2005, estimated investment for the refining and petrochemicals units in southeastern Fujian was $3.5 billion. Since then, the partners have added a marketing venture with 750 filling stations and a network of terminals, while refinery costs have risen worldwide because of a tight contractor market and escalating prices for raw materials.
Franklin Adhesives, Columbus, OH, has announced the acquisition of the technology and manufacturing assets of SI Group, Inc., as well as its range of acrylic hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives. Acrynax 100% solid acrylic hot melts have the performance properties of a solvent adhesive with the benefits and reduced operating expenses of hot-melt technology.
NuSil Technology, Carpinteria, CA, has appointed Huntsman Quimica Brasil Ltda., a subsidiary of Huntsman Corp., as its exclusive distributor of products for the electronics industry in Brazil. The agreement will provide benefits to existing Huntsman and NuSil Technology customers by providing local application support.
Sartomer Co., Exton, PA, has announced plans to open a new 3,832-square-foot technical center and office space in Yokohama, Japan, in December of this year. The facility will house Sartomer Japan, which opened in 2005 and is part of the company’s Asian operations.
Thomas Associates, Marblehead, MA, has announced an expansion of their customer applications and development laboratory. Located just 10 miles north of Boston’s Logan Airport, the revamped lab features a full complement of EXFO spot-curing systems and optics. Customers are welcome to visit the lab and test curing equipment, radiometers, optical accessories and adhesives, thus optimizing their process before any equipment is purchased.
