POLYMERIC SYSTEMS INC.: Polymer-Based Sealant (6/16/09)
Polymeric Systems, Inc. now
offers Sili-Thane 803, an MS polymer-based sealant that combines the benefits
of silicone with the benefits of polyurethane. Sili-Thane 803 was specifically
designed for a range of interior and
exterior uses, including dynamically moving joints (joint movement in excess of
±25%), bonding dissimilar materials, and sealing joints with varying
coefficients of expansion. 803 cures to a medium-modulus rubber with excellent
adhesion and weathering ability, and it is less likely to cause staining or
corrosion than urethane or silicone sealants.
Sili-Thane 803 adheres to substrates commonly used in construction and industry, such as PVC, aluminum, glass, steel, ceramic, plywood and many newly developed construction materials. It will not foam or bubble when exposed to moist substrates or high humidity conditions during cure. 803 is gunnable at low temperatures, has virtually no odor, and can be painted.
Sili-Thane 803 skins over in less than 30 minutes. It is solvent- and isocyanate-free with a very low VOC content (18 gms/liter). Sili-Thane 803 meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM C-920, Type S, Grade NS, Class 25, Use NT, G, M, A, and O; TT-S-00230C, Type II, Class A; and CAN/CGSB 19.13-M87. White, Gray, Limestone, and Black are standard colors.
