EFD, a subsidiary of Nordson, has won the 2009 Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Magazine Vision Award for its new lead-free, halide-free, water-soluble solder pastes.

The SMT Vision Awards honor those products and technologies that have shaped the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing industry for the past year. Products are judged on innovation, cost-effectiveness, speed/throughput improvements, quality, ease of use, and environmental responsibility.  

In addition to being halide-free, the new EFD pastes are specially formulated to help manufacturers increase yields and reliability in a variety of electronics and electromechanical assembly processes, including medical devices, cell phones, solar panels, automotive and consumer electronics, LEDs, and military applications.

EFD designs and manufactures precision dispensing devices for applying controlled amounts of adhesives, sealants, lubricants and other assembly fluids used in almost every manufacturing process.
