DSM Dyneema recently announced it has opened a full commercial-scale ballistic tape facility in Greenville, N.C. The facility manufactures Dyneema® ballistic tape, which features many of the characteristics of Dyneema® UD composite. The tape reportedly gives manufacturers greater flexibility in armor design while providing cost-effective protection against high-velocity fragments. Applications include both body and vehicle armor such as spall liners, inserts and shields.
